The College of Medicine received funding from Congressman Soto to start the Pathogen Surveillance Initiative. This new initiative will allow the Immunity and Pathogenesis department to see trends in seasonal viruses and new viruses that emerge in Florida at a faster rate. They will be allowed to count on new equipment and the help of professional researchers to start this initiative.
